Mission Statement for the Brown Mural Project
To facilitate the solicitation, collection and allocation of private funds received in the efforts of fulfilling the legislative requirements of Senate Bill 54, signed by Kansas's Governor Mark Parkinson on May 17, 2010 (fifty six years after the 1954 United States Supreme Court decision of Brown v. Topeka Board of Education). Senate Bill 54 states: "No public funds shall be used to pay for any costs associated with the creating, maintaining and installing the mural developed under the section.
